The Chatsworth Reservior. By Ken Lafler.

The Chatsworth Reservoir and Dam  were constrcuted in 1919. The Reservoir went into service in 1920 and was operational until 1950 being the main dam for the Valley.  The reservoir had two main dams and two "dykes which are similar to a levy.

Located on Lake Manor Drive the Chatsworth Reservior was a large film location for westerns and other movies and television programs such as the Lone Ranger and Roy Rodgers.

After the 1971 Sylmar Earthquake the dams were evaluated and engineers determined that the structure's would have to be complelely rebuilt.  The reservoir has been out of service ever since.

Today the area is a nature preserve with all types of wildlife.
